Collection of Words...Wordle.net
Kathy Cothran
Printer-Friendly Format

By using http://wordle.net you can have your students create their own collection of words...either to describe themselves, a book, a character, a season, or any other subject of study.

This site is very simple to use, but you may want to keep your student from exploring the gallery as controversial things have been found there.

When you get to the opening page, click on Create.

Then, whatever your main topic is, type that word (I like in all caps) four times. This will make the main word much larger then the others. Then, with just a space between each word, type all that you know. One word is best as all the words are separated and if you use two word phrases they need to be together (such as HotChocolate or EasterEggs)

As a safety measure, I suggest to my students to highlight all of their text and then copy it into the computer memory as it doesn't appear you can return to the page to edit the words.

The fonts, colors, and direction of the words can be altered and played with until you find the perfect combination to print!

Enjoy, as my third graders loved this activity today.
