Plant Parts and Plant Needs
Kathy Cothran
Printer-Friendly Format

Children easily draw and label the plant and the plant parts and what a plant needs to survive. Often I accompany this activity with reading books by Lois Ehlert such as "Planting a Rainbow."

Kid Pix is an easy drawing program for students to use to show their understanding of the content.

Older students can use cell animation in HyperStudio to draw, step by step, exactly what happens as a plant grows, and add labels, and then combine to create their own animation.
